Girls at work!

May 12, 2010 by · 5 Comments · Uncategorized

This week the creativity really takes off with ideas and discussions  about collage themes/approaches/textures and sources now beginning to take form  The Home Economic scrap boxes of exotic silks and satins have  been a wonderful resource, – where a strip of brown silk has now become the  trunk of a palm tree in one collage – should look good with some  silky green  palm leaves!

Elsewhere pairs of hands are being photographed around the class to create a backdrop for a collage theme of togertheness.

Busy, busy,busy!

Today we move on to exploring the different work and style of Collage artists.

By the end of today your group should have learned more about how this this art form developed; what it involves and also brainstormed suitable themes or subjects for your own  final collage.

pink flower lg 1

I picked this one as my best photo because I like the way the sun hits the flower, I also like the way the colours pop out how the pink attracts your eye because it is very vibrant in colour. The flower looks as if it is from a much more tropical climate than Glasgow. This flower makes me smile and feel warm inside. I am proud of this photograph.

I picked this photo as the worst photo because I don’t like the way the colour are not seen as well. I also don’t like how the photo is not focused and how the camera takes in background ‘stuff ‘that is taking away the focus from the main picture. You don’t get to see the beauty of this flower because it wasn’t taken with enough focus and is quite blurred.

bad photo

We thought this was our worst photo because the lighting is out of balance and you aren’t really able to see what the object is. The distance we took the picture from isn’t that good either because you cant see the front of the object only the side of it. Plus you aren’t really able to see much of the detail in this object because it is from the side and most of the detail of this object is on the front of it

good photo

We chose this to be our best photo because the lighting is balanced and contrast that we took it from is good because you are able to see the object from the front and know what it is but in our other photo you couldn’t really make out what it was. Also you are able to see more of the detail of the object since we zoomed in on the front of the robot

Our first photograph comparisond1.

From a number of photographs we took this morning we chose this picture because it was eye catching.  Also this picture is nice and bright. The daffodil is in sharp focus and it also looks very alive. The background is softer and more blurred so all the attention is on the flower. We also liked the way the sun shone on the left hand side of the flower because it shows the petals are fine and delicate.

d2

We felt this was the worst picture we took because it doesn’t have much life to it, you can’t see it clearly, half of the flowers are dying and also because half of the box is missing. Also because only half of it has sun light which makes most of the flowers look dull and boring.
